Recently, the China National Intellectual Property Administration agreed to Haikou City to carry out the construction of a national intellectual property protection center, and in the future, it will carry out rapid and coordinated intellectual property protection work for the equipment manufacturing and biopharmaceutical industries. So far, the number of national intellectual property protection centers under construction and in operation has reached 73, distributed in 28 provinces (autonomous regions and municipalities) across the country, including 2 in Hainan Province.
Haikou is the capital city of Hainan Province and an important node city for the construction of a free trade pilot zone on the entire island of Hainan. Haikou has continuously gathered scientific research institutions and high-tech enterprises related to equipment manufacturing and biomedicine industries, and the proportion of enterprises above designated size in Hainan Province exceeds 60%; the industry has a strong momentum of development, and the total output value of the two industries will exceed 40 billion yuan in 2023. The construction of a national intellectual property protection center in Haikou can better support Haikou's characteristic industries to enhance their competitiveness in the domestic and international markets, help Hainan Province strengthen high-level opening up, and create a good international environment for the development of new quality productivity.
