General Secretary of the CPC Central Committee, President of the State, and Chairman of the Central Military Commission Xi Jinping recently issued important instructions on strengthening the protection, inheritance, and utilization of cultural and natural heritage, pointing out that the successful inclusion of "Beijing Central Axis - A Masterpiece of China's Ideal Capital Order" and "Badain Jaran Desert - Sand Mountain Lakes" and "China Yellow (Bohai) Sea Bird Habitat (Phase II)" in the World Heritage List is of positive significance for building a Chinese-style modernization with coordinated material and spiritual civilizations and harmonious coexistence between man and nature, and has added brilliant colors to the world's garden of civilization.
Xi Jinping stressed that we should take this successful application as an opportunity to further strengthen the overall and systematic protection of cultural and natural heritage, effectively improve the ability and level of heritage protection, and protect the cultural and natural treasures of the Chinese nation. We should continue to strengthen the inheritance and utilization of cultural and natural heritage, so that it can be revitalized and shine with new brilliance in the new era, and better meet the people's needs for a better life. We should strengthen international exchanges and cooperation in the field of cultural and natural heritage, and make new and greater contributions to the implementation of the global civilization initiative and the promotion of building a community with a shared future for mankind through practical actions.
Recently, the 46th UNESCO World Heritage Conference held in New Delhi, India, passed a resolution to include my country's world cultural heritage nomination project "Beijing Central Axis - A Masterpiece of China's Ideal Capital Order" and world natural heritage nomination projects "Badain Jaran Desert - Sand Mountain Lakes" and "China Yellow (Bohai) Sea Migratory Bird Habitat (Phase II)" in the World Heritage List. So far, the total number of my country's world heritage sites has reached 59, ranking first in the world.
