From aged vinegar to spring tea, intellectual property rights stimulate the development potential of the central region

Guo Wen, director of the Intellectual Property Protection Department of the China National Intellectual Property Administration, said at the China National Intellectual Property Administration's August regular press conference on the 21st that in 2023, the direct annual output value of geographical indications in the central region will reach 239.52 billion yuan, accounting for about a quarter of the country, effectively stimulating the potential for regional economic development.

It is understood that in accordance with the principle of "one province, one policy", the National Intellectual Property Administration has established a mechanism for the joint construction of intellectual property strong provinces. At present, it has supported 31 cities and 64 counties (districts) in the central region to carry out the construction of national intellectual property strong cities and counties. By supporting the central region to expand and strengthen advanced manufacturing, cultivate and expand green and low-carbon industries, and develop geographical indication characteristic industries, it will help promote economic transformation and upgrading.

Shanxi issued regulations on the protection of aged vinegar, Anhui has carried out special actions on the geographical indication of spring tea for six consecutive years, and geographical indications such as tea oil in southern Jiangxi have been selected into the list of key contacts and guidance for the promotion of the use of national geographical indications. Henan has established a protection and supervision system for the geographical indication of Jun porcelain, and Hubei has accelerated the construction of geographical indication protection demonstration areas such as Qi Ai and Jingshan Qiaomi. Geographical indication products such as fireworks in Liuyang, Hunan have been included in the China-Europe landmark mutual recognition and mutual protection list... As of June this year, the number of valid invention patents in the central region reached 618,000, a year-on-year increase of 19.0%; the number of valid registered trademarks reached 7.044 million, a year-on-year increase of 11.0%; the total number of geographical indications accounted for about one-fifth of the country.

"We have cultivated 2,119 national intellectual property advantage demonstration enterprises, built 4 national intellectual property power construction demonstration parks and 13 pilot parks, helping to improve the regional innovation level and promote high-quality economic and social development in the entire central region.
