On September 11, Shen Changyu, Director of the China National Intellectual Property Administration of China, held bilateral talks with Daren Deng, Director General of the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO), who led a delegation to China to attend the third "Belt and Road" Intellectual Property High-Level Conference and the 13th China Intellectual Property Annual Conference.
Shen Changyu introduced the latest progress of China's intellectual property work and highly appreciated WIPO's active support for the joint construction of the "Belt and Road" initiative. He said that President Xi Jinping emphasized that the intellectual property system plays an important role in promoting the joint construction of the "Belt and Road" and that it is necessary to deepen intellectual property cooperation with countries and regions that jointly build the "Belt and Road". For a long time, China and WIPO have continued to carry out pragmatic and friendly cooperation under the framework of the "Belt and Road" and have achieved many results. The third "Belt and Road" Intellectual Property High-Level Conference jointly held by the two sides this time is larger in scale, higher in specifications, and richer in content of cooperation projects than the previous two sessions, highlighting the great appeal and global influence of the "Belt and Road" initiative. China looks forward to continuing to deepen the "Belt and Road" intellectual property cooperation with WIPO, strengthening experience sharing and personnel exchanges, jointly promoting the development of the intellectual property cause of the co-construction countries, and helping to build a global intellectual property ecosystem.
Daren Tang said that the Chinese government attaches great importance to the development of intellectual property rights and has made important contributions to global innovation and development. The joint hosting of the third "Belt and Road" high-level intellectual property conference by WIPO and China highlights the efforts made by both sides in promoting international cooperation on intellectual property rights in the "Belt and Road". WIPO is willing to continue to deepen cooperation with China, carry out more fruitful cooperation in promoting the transformation and application of intellectual property rights, optimizing global intellectual property services, and jointly promote the development of the global intellectual property ecosystem.
The two sides also exchanged views in depth on issues of common concern such as strengthening cooperation in the field of informatization and jointly hosting commemorative activities for the 30th anniversary of China's accession to the Patent Cooperation Treaty (PCT), and reached a number of consensuses.
