Shen Changyu held bilateral talks with Deng Hongsen, Director General of the World Intellectual Property Organization

On the morning of July 10, local time, during the series of meetings of the 65th General Assembly of the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO), Shen Changyu, Director of the China National Intellectual Property Administration, and Deng Hongsen, Director General of WIPO, held bilateral talks in Geneva, Switzerland, and exchanged in-depth views on the third "Belt and Road" Intellectual Property High-level Conference, the Diplomatic Conference on the Design Law Treaty and bilateral cooperation.

 

Shen Changyu said that since last year, under the guidance of the spirit of President Xi Jinping's congratulatory letter to the commemoration of the 50th anniversary of cooperation between China and the World Intellectual Property Organization, the cooperation between the two sides has been further deepened and a series of practical results have been achieved. China congratulates WIPO on the successful convening of the diplomatic conference in May this year and the smooth adoption of the WIPO Treaty on Intellectual Property, Genetic Resources and Related Traditional Knowledge. China will continue to constructively participate in the formulation of international intellectual property rules under the WIPO framework. We wish the diplomatic conference on the Design Law Treaty to be held in the second half of the year a complete success and look forward to further deepening and solidifying cooperation between the two sides in the future.

 

Daren Tang said that the two sides successfully held the commemoration of the 50th anniversary of cooperation between WIPO and China last year, further deepening friendly relations. This year, the two sides will also jointly celebrate the 30th anniversary of China's accession to the PCT system. In the past 30 years, the PCT system has developed rapidly in China, and China has become the largest source of PCT international patent applications. It is hoped that the two sides will continue to deepen cooperation in promoting development through intellectual property and improving the WIPO global intellectual property service system, and work together to promote the development of the global intellectual property ecosystem.

 

Ambassador Chen Xu of the Chinese Permanent Mission to Geneva attended the talks and said that the celebration of the 50th anniversary of cooperation between the two sides last year had a far-reaching impact and laid a good foundation for further deepening and solidifying cooperation in the future.
